How To Make Nigerian Debit Cards Work On PayPal

GTBank Nigeria did not only disable usage of their Naira and Dollar Mastercards on Google Play Store, they have also extended same feat to PayPal recently.

If you for example, try to pay for an item on Amazon using MallForAfrica and Paypal, you keep receiving an error message of this kind: “The Transaction Couldn’t Be Completed. Please redirect your customer to Paypal”

You could, perhaps, after several failed attempts, send a tweet to MallForAfrica with the hope that the problem emanated from their app, perhaps. I have noticed that same applies to even domain registrars like Hostgator which PayPal would not enable payment via their platform, courtesy of GTBank.

What is happening is that lately, PayPal have implemented what is called Dynamic Currency Conversion, which gives users the option to pay in their local currencies, like in this case, the naira. It is obvious therefore, that GTBank has disabled all PayPal transactions on customers’ cards. The only option is to make bill payments using the bank’s debit cards.

Although not obvious to disable the Dynamic Currency Conversion feature on PayPal’s site, it can actually be disabled. That, I found out after a few investigations.

See the steps below.

How To Disable Dynamic Currency Conversion feature on PayPal

  1. login to your PayPal account. Click here
  2. Click on Conversion Options.
  3. Select and submit the second option for “Bill me in the currency listed on the seller’s invoice”
  4. click submit.

Hurray! You just disabled Dynamic Currency Conversion feature on PayPal.

You may then proceed with another purchase using PayPal. It should now go through without any hassles.

But if the error message above, “The Transaction Couldn’t Be Completed. Please redirect your customer to Paypal” flags again or you get a sudden card decline error, do not hesitate to inform me in the comment section below.

You can simply search for an article on Google on How To Use Nigerian Debit Cards On Google Play Store to fix the same card declined issue on Google Play Store.
