2face who now prefers to be addressed with “2baba” is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur. He also stands to be one of the most awarded and most bankable artists in Africa.

Background Family

2face was born on the 18th of September, 1975 in Jos, Nigeria although he is from Benue State. He attended Saint Gabriela’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State and then went on to Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT).

2face has had quite a controversial personal life. With his near-death experiences, robbery attacks where he was shot at and with his very tumultuous romantic life involving different “baby mama”s.

He married his long time girlfriend Annie Macaulay in 2013 and together they have 2 daughters. He however has 5 other children from his other relationships.

Rise to Prominence

While at IMT he started performing at school events, shows and parties. He was so good that even other neighbouring universities invited him to perform at events they hosted.

He eventually dropped out of school to focus on his budding music career. He moved to Lagos and started collaborating with another artist- Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) whom he had earlier met at IMT. And then soon enough Faze (Chibuzor Oji) joined the group and they formed a music trio- Plantashun Boiz.

As a group they three of them became even more famous, they released two albums- Body and Soul and Sold Out. They group sadly broke up in 2004 but came back to record a third and final album titled Plan B in 2007.

After the band broke up, they all focused on their careers as solo artists. Of the trio 2face has had the most successful solo career so far. He released Grass 2 Grace his first album as a solo artist in 2006.

He is also the founder of Hypertek Digital- a record label which he founded in 2006 after leaving Kennis Music. His hit song African Queen gave him international recognition when it was used as the soundtrack for the movie Phat Girlz. He also released another album The Unstoppable. He also featured a single with R Kelly and Prince Lee titled Hands across the world.
Other albums he has released so far include Away & Beyond, The Ascension, The Unstoppable International Edition.

Tuface also served as a judge on the show The Voice Nigeria alongside other artists like Timi Dakolo, Waje and Patoranking.
